7h agoA little less action than I expected but a good story, well written, good twists, solid performances and direction. Its a tad slow in places but the story is engrossing enough to keep you involved.
11h agoIt's been a really good show so far. A little shallow in terms of character development and plot, but a solid show.
1d agolove this. i like the slow pace and build ups before the action rather than the usual action for the sake of action. Bridges performance is high level and im constantly wanting to know whats going to happen next.
1d agoYawn. Poor writing made it difficult to get through one episode. Thumbs way down.
6d agoThe writing and John's acting is the reason to watch. In Episode 2, Amy's soliloquy about her marriage/divorce was exceptionally written and presented - I truly felt real.
Jun 27, 2022I am hopefully (or is it hopelessly?) optimistic for the show that is 'The OLD MAN', however.....there are a few things which give me pause: 1) The fact that the writers named Jeff Bridges' character 'CHASE' signifies that they don't have a whole lot of creativity-laced brain cells to rub together* (* can you imagine if they named Harrison Ford's character in 'The FUGITIVE' Dr. CHASE (!?) 2) The U.S. Gov. has a true military budget that is bigger than the GDP of the majority of countries on earth.....do the writers really expect us to believe that if they (the U.S. Gov) really wanted to rein in/wipe out a former top tier asset (agent) that they would only have one (1!) camera feed attached to the top of one (1!) jeep running feed back to command & control during an interception OP (?) i.e. no Recon planes or Drones with FLIR or Night Vision to AID in the capture of the known-to-be Lethally Dangerous Ex-super Agent (!?) It's little details like this that take you right out of the realism that makes a show like this legitimately good, and in turn completely destroys your suspension of disbelief which is pretty important to maintain for those trying to enjoy 'The Pick Of The Orchard' of the very ubiquitous "Entertainment" that Hollywood churns out en mass for us all to consume on a regular basis. The Quotes: <"Give them BREAD & CIRCUSES to keep the masses from Realizing *The Truth* & Rioting"> (~ Roman Senator circa 100 A.D.) -or- <"Don't Ask QUESTIONS, Just CONSUME PRODUCT.....Then Get Excited For NEXT PRODUCT.">........comes to mind
Jun 24, 2022Just plain good. Note: I've only watched two episodes, but I'm definitely hooked. Great characters = great drama.
Jun 24, 2022Wow! This is awesome! Marvelous cast and writing, by a guy who created awesome Black Sails. Must watch!
Jun 24, 2022Not bad, but not good either. Expected more from this with Jeff Bridges as a lead. They have a fight scene that is ridiculous in episode 1. Why is that necessary to see an old man try to fight like an 18 year old. doesn't work.
Jun 23, 2022Excellent show , well written, and excellent actors.
